In the beginning...

The idea of this blog originally came from a conversation with my dad. At the begin of the summer of 2009, before I came to NCSSM, I started an email-based newsletter for my friends and teachers back home to keep them updated about what I was going through. I wanted to tell them about my experience because they all helped me so much in the process of getting into NCSSM. Then one day I had a talk with my dad at the dinner table. He encouraged me to make a blog and share my experience with everyone. And everything just happened from there.

Through this blog I want to achieve two goals. One, I want to use this blog to keep myself thinking. Writing regularly will make me stop during my busy week to assess what I’ve learned so far, not about the information, but about life. Two, I want this to be an eye-opener for everyone else that are part of the NCSSM experience. Whether you’re a student, a parent of a student, or just know someone that goes to NCSSM, you’ll know that this whole experience is so unique from any other high school experience. It would be such a shame to go through two years of hard, hard work and only learn about the periodic table of elements and become a master at Shakespeare and Emerson. I believe that NCSSM is more than academics and I hope through these writings, you’ll reflect on how NCSSM has changed your life.

  1. Thanks for this blog! I will be starting as a junior at NCSSM this fall and am really excited but kind of nervous. It is kind of nice being able to see someone's experience first hand that is honest yet not just being a troll.
